Message 32744 - Posted: 16 Dec 2006, 11:24:57 UTC - in response to Message 32739.

Hi,
I've sent a first .po file and Mr Kim put it on the Beta-test site: I saw that my file was not good and have done a lot of corrections.
I sent the second .po file (that was corrected) but had no answer: so, I let it down.
I still have the .po file on my Windows' Desktop.
I can send it to someone wanting to work on it/improve it.

I have it also ... which one is the latest. I sent the file to D. Kim on August 26.

Sorry for missing your emails and skipping over this. I updated the fr.po file on the test site at:

http://ralph.bakerlab.org/rosetta_site_dev/language_select.php

Please check it over and if there are more modifications to be made, use the fr.po file at:

http://ralph.bakerlab.org/rosetta_site_dev/rah_project_specific_translations/

Let me know on this thread if the fr.po file is ready to be made live on R@h.

Thanks!

Hi,

Happy to see the French version is up. Congratulations.

I have begun the Spanish translation, but recognize I've got stuck in the middle (scientific language and comprehension)

Is there somebody out there who would like to share the work translating Rosetta to the Spanish version?

Alguien quiere colaborar en la traduccion de la pagina Rosetta al Castellano/Espanol?

Gracias,

Joanna

Hi Joanna,

Anything is better than nothing so I can add whatever you have to the test site for review. Just leave unfinished sections in english.

David,
I didn't find in the .po file (french), pages like 'My account', 'Recommended System Requirements', ...
Are they in the file?
For me it's OK like the last version I sent you. But I'm sure there are some mistakes here and there. We can find and change them in the following days.
What happens if some people modify a file at the same time?

I've just sent a last update of the fr.po file to David to correct a missing hyperlink.
As I don't see other problem (but there are here, well hidden :o)), I asked him to release it on the main site.

I don't really know how to write that type of file, but I could probably at least help with the translation of text. I'm not promising anything fantastic, because spanish is my second language, but I'm sure I could help with much of it.

Hello Soan,

You can give it a try. The translation of Rosetta is open to everybody.

As I am in more or less the three quarters, try to tranlate the last part. If you open the "po" program, there are numbers towards the right side. The text finishes at n° 575. Translate into Spanish beginning at 500 or whatever is nearer. Translate whatever you can.

Leave the original intact, and work on a copy (add a number or letter to the original file name).

Send your file to David Kim. His address is further down this thread.

Thank you,

Joanna

KAYROS

Try going here for the words and the format needed in order to create a Spanish version of the website.
https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/en.po

Earlier posts in this thread give examples of how things should work once the document is translated, and specifically includes jmurdoch's attempt at a Spanish translation, although I'm not sure to what extent it in fact is usable.

Most of the rest of the information, including how to contact David Kim directly can be found from this link. You should send the file to David Kim once you have it fully translated properly.
https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/rah_translate.php

If you don't understand some of the scientific terms enough to effectively translate them into Spanish either contact David Kim directly and ask for help regarding the passages in question, or go ahead and post what you don't yet fully grasp in this thread.

You help is definitely appreciated since Spanish is the most needed language currently not part of the Rosetta@home webpage translation options.

Hi,
Hi Kayros,

I'm polishing up the part I have translated. I will be sending it soon.

Saon I think is working from "item 500" onwards with the po program. There is lots there to be translated.

Once the part I'm translating is on line, it may be improved if needed.

JMurdoch

Hi jmurdoch,

Thanks for the links, I opened https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/en.po , and started translating the content, later on I´ll send the result to David Kim and questions if necessary about scientific terms.

I just haven´t found proper way to save the text in the format, what I´m doing is taking a copy from the original to word to work easier and when finished hope to either send it to David Kim or find the way to post it in the translating web site.

Any explanation about how to find and use the po program will be great! Cause I´m not very IT well literated ;)

Hi Kayros,

You will find po edit at this address:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=27043

Once you have installed this program, any "po" file will be able to be edited with it.

The text to be translated is at the bottom left (to be enlarged). To be translated in the same place. Then you rub out the English text.

The safest way is to give a different name to your es.po file (add a number or a letter). And keep the original one as a reference.

Accents in Spanish need to be written in html (é = é) Well, that isn't the most important thing for the moment.

I don't know if Soan is translating from line 500 onwards (po reference).

'Technical' biological words will surely be improved by somebody else in the future (see the actual es.po file and it's vocabulary, it may help. I have sent an updated es.po file, but still not up).

Hope this helps,

Joanna

Hi jmurdoch!

Thanks a lot for the tip, will be definitevily helpful, I´ve already translated more than 50% of the english original version (.. in my spare time ;P )but instalating the po program (already done) I think will advance faster, I´ve already put accents in my spanish version so, to correct and put them properly in the final version will take just a short time after finishing with the main text since is a minor adjustment.

Also, I´m enjoing this task since helped me to fully understand the project :)

I will tell you later about the results using the po program.

For example:
From main page:

All in "Your account" page and many, many more.
