Could we get standalone apps? Some users would like to run BOINC from a USB drive without using an installer.

There have been a couple of threads about diskless machines. You have to ensure you don't cause a bunch of writes to the USB. Flash memory does have a maximum number of writes that it can endure.

I've used Dotsch.UX - works great. As Mod.Sense says, flash drives have limited wire cycles but modern drives have wear-leveling so as long as there's space it should be fine for years.
