This is the third time this has happened to this computer. Even though I've setup parameters in in the computing preferences to limit the amount of ram/memory and cpu performance this project keeps freezing up this computer. Unless I get a clear solution I'm going to have to discontinuing supporting this project.

Your recent valid tasks have each used 500–1100 MB of memory, which is normal. What else is running on your machine at the same time as Rosetta?

It is a Gentoo Linux Box, with 32Gb ram, and a AMD 1800X CPU, 1Tb SSD, w/ 756Gb of freespace, Boinc/Rossetta is run 12 threads.

I've got 12 cores/threads & 32GB of RAM & the most my system has used over the last few days is just on 16GB.
I suggest you use your system tools to see what is actually using the RAM- it's not Rosetta Tasks (at least not this time).

I'll have to look into this more. Need to learn how to capture SSD and memory data when system freezing.

Or at least just have the system monitor up so you can see when the RAM is getting used up or SSD I/O is increasing.

System freezing can also be due to RAM issues. Using more system RAM leading to use of addresses that aren't usually used, but are faulty. Worth running a good RAM tester. Overheating CPU/PSU usually results in re-boots, but system lockups can also occur.

One of my Linux boxes also freezes when the hard drive space is down under 1gb, it's from a hidden system file that just keeps growing nd growing and growing at often over 100gb per day. I 'fixed' it on one pc by using a 1TB drive and now I only have to reboot about once a week or so to clear it out. The file seems to clear itself after 2 reboots. An no I don't remember the name of the file but it had as alot of x's and or 0's in the name from my sketchy memory of about a month ago when I looked.
