I could have oc'd that amd, but same problem, the msi mobo would not let me do it and if I tried via the BIOS it would lock up. The current mobo is a ASUS something or another. Have to try and dredge up the documentation on it. The ASUS utility is letting me adjust the cpu speed and shows cpu temp and system temp. Cpu runs around 68-72C and the system stays around 51-52C. Btw, after pumping up my OC some more I found the max and crashed a few work units on due to that. Looks like I can get to 3.960 ghz safely on a 3.0 ghz cpu, but at this time it will thermal overheat until I get a heat sink. So for now I will run it at 3.510 max. Try that max speed against your quad. To get the temperature under control I am backing way down to 3.16ghz but for the moment with FRA stuff running it looks like I have to go down even further to 3.024ghz dc for the time being... wish it was cooler here... That is what is letting me pump the CPU so high. I got up just shy of 4ghz something like 3.97 or 3.98 but it was either memory locking up or cpu overheat, not sure, look at my thread in the 5.96 or 1.28 and read the debugger report, maybe I overspeed the design parameters of BOINC.
