I would like to see the use of the "Your" word in Rosetta menus minimized where unnecessary or redundant. It creates a feeling of division between administration and users. If necessary to personalize, the "My" word is at least more intuitive from the user's perspective, as in "My profile". Our shared Rosetta project is a team effort, so why not drop dualistic references altogether when possible. For instance, simply saying "to format text" instead of "to format your text" is plain and clear enough.

Fair points jwleaf, but trying to be 'politically correct' may well lose meaning in how BOINC is trying to help users. (Don't forget that the wording you comment on apply to all BOINC projects, not just Rosetta).

It may be that changing the wording to your suggestion may cause a little confusion as to who should be doing what to which ;)

Good point antonphotos, about the umbrella use of BOINC manager, therefore implying more resistance to changing set ways of thinking. But what confusion could arise by changing the menu phrases to "my account, my preferences, my results, or my computer"? Isn't it clearly "we" the users among the set of admistration, users, clients and servers who is reading the menu and deciding on some action?

Isn't there enough serious stuff to be concerned about then quibbling over semantics?

Pathetic.

Deciding what is serious stuff and what is pathetic semantics is a matter of opinion, adrianxw, and thank you for contributing yours, but please moderate your contempt. These topics which we the users introduce and explore in these message boards all mean something to someone. Our community quest for important stuff is like Rosetta probing for minimal energy all over the map. Many topics might seem to miss the bulls eye of importance, but without some tolerance for diversity, the most, most serious stuff might be overlooked completely.
