Plenty of earthquakes, but relatively small ones. It's actually fun sitting down on your desktop when suddenly the floor moves haha. The only one that got my adrenaline running was the 6.9-7 last... friday. It was long enough and strong enough for me to get up and go under the arch of the nearest door. But then it stopped, unlike the 8.8 from last year, that kept going stronger stronger. |

So glad to hear that you and your family are all safe and doing well - a whole lot of rock and roll going on over the past few months. I think that I would be looking to move somewhere a little more stable, like maybe San Fransisco. Thanks for providing an update on your status - the community here at Rosetta is one of the things that make it a great place to hang your hat. |

I live just South of Washington DC, in Virginia, and we had an earthquake last year, it was so small most people never even felt it! I used to live as a kid in Alaska though, my dad was in the Air Force, and they have LOTS of earthquakes, as a kid it was cool!! I am glad you are okay too!!! |

It's alright. After the big one, I realized buildings here are built to last. I mean, living in the epicenter... only a handful of building got severe damage (except for the one that fell, it's what you get when you break the law to save a few bucks). So now I just stay doing whatever I'm doing trying to ignore the fact the floor is moving whenever an earthquake strikes. As long as the lights don't go out, I'm good to go. I found some videos of the 8.8 earthquake: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch13uJ5sGNw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsyTRKj_nU4 These two were a bit north of the epicenter, so the quakes in the videos are around 8 and not 8.8 like I lived it. (An 8 in the richter scale is about 8 times weaker, if I'm not wrong) I still beat myself for not videotaping the event, but as you would guess, I was busy trying not to die. If my RAC takes a deep dive, and just so happens an earthquake occurred in my surroundings, then that'd be bad news. |

I used to live as a kid in Alaska though, my dad was in the Air Force, and they have LOTS of earthquakes, as a kid it was cool!! Before the 8.8, the "earthquakes" were so small, they felt the same as if a loaded truck passed by you. As a matter of fact, I always confused them. So I never really experienced an earthquake before. So after the 8.8 earthquake stopped moving, I was like: "Ohh... So that's what an earthquake feels like...". I would've never thought the earth could move with such agility, it feels like you are standing in water. Isn't San Francisco due for a big one as well? Isn't the fault line directly under the city? |

There are several fault lines and they go up and down the whole State of California! I was watching a show last night and a guy said that Israel, Lebanon and the area around Jerusalem is due for a major one too. He said they are over 4 METERS from where they should be right now! He said the last major one happened in the year 1202 and the Earth NEEDS to shift to get back in balance. He was talking MAJOR destruction due to the many kinds of construction! |
