The bottom line is.. I do NOT want:
1. this on my team thread, it does not concern my team
2. email from you or anyone else from FaD that I do Not know.. It is considered spam by me and unwanted.
3. Have to explain myself over and over to you.


FaD software is to blame if you are not. I know every machine that has ever been in my possession does NOT have team 42 in the box and has not for a year.

And im 99.99999999% sure that all machines were uninstalled from FaD. If there were not then FaD is a VERY hard program to uninstall.
Thus, my conclusion... I have done everything necessary to not get solicitating email from you.. so why did I?

Ok I just read through all this crap again and I want to say thank you to hob for apologizing to team mauisun as this is not a mauisun issue. That is class my man and I have nothing but respect!

Pixiebot - I understand where you are coming from but this was just the wrong place to have this discussion. Same goes for Morphy and the likes. This kind of stuff needs to stay in the background somewhere out of site to the rest of us. If there is an issue it needs to be handled via email, pm something just not on a team thread.

Oh yeah, one last thing.

Teddies....

First off, the uninstall program for FAD use to have alot of problems, and from time to time still does not remove itself properly. When I removed it from my boxes, I had to go into the Regristry to clean it up myself.

It sounds like the Database problem has been around for sometime. For a software designer to say that they can not fix a database problem is either just plain lazy or someone who does not understand databases.

The database should be able to scour itself and find inconsistancies if the developer is willing to take the time to write the routines to do so. Its not all that hard, and I have my Oracle DBA's write stuff like this all the time. And trust me, doing this in a massive Oracle database is much harder then a MySQL/SQL based database.

Now, if Legman did infact have active computers (as in the last job turned in within a reasonable time frame) joined to your team, and he checked the "received emails from team captain" that is one thing.

But if the last job turned in was for another team, or the computer had not sent in a finished job in the last, oh month or so (or something else that is REASONABLE) then I would had expected the system to not send emails his way.

Once again, to do something like this is VERY easy.

If as Legman says, he moved all his computers to the Mauisun team sometime around 1 year ago, then the system SHOULD NOT have sent him an email. And if it did (as it did), it would have been simply from laziness on the programmers side or simple lack of understanding of how to manage a database.

You guys seam to keep saying that he has computers that are still on your team. Ok, then since you have already called out legman by telling him to be a man and do what is right, then I will ask that you prove your statment. What computer of his has turned in a job recently on Fad. Please supply Job ID, Computer info, and date of job turned in.

Otherwise, I will have to side with Legman and state that I this, a mass email system that is so inproperly, that it can not track team changes and remove an email from a list and add it to the new list, is technically SPAMMING someone.

My reasoning for this is rather simple. If he moved his computers to the new team, then the only team captain that should be able to send him emails would be FulffyChicken.

If on the otherhand, you can prove that he does infact have a recently active computer that is associated with that email account still on your team. Well then legman, I would have to say it was your own fault you got the email.

In this case, I will have to side with my teammate until other wise shown proof that he is wrong.

That's why I jumped in. As he stated by himself in this thread legman knew that the daatbase is faulty concerning nicks and installations but nevertheless blamed Pixie.

I guess I just must have read his post overthere differently then you guys did.

To me, it was looking as if he was saying that FAD had sold his email address, and that was as low as Porn Spammers.

Since he was pissed about this, and the contect of the spam looked like a recuitmen email (by the way, if I was not on your team and I got this, I would think the same thing), he basically told Pixibot no (of course in a pissed off way).

Had I been in his shoes, I think my post there would had been a bit more, hmm, colorful, LOL.

The way I see it, it looks as if Pixi simply used the FAD function, and it is the FAD function that is defunct.

I see absolutly no reason to appologize to FAD since this entire problem came about because of a poorly designed mass emailing system. And, until I see proof that Legman has any computers still on the deapthought team turning in work (which might be the case), I would consider this spam.

Spam in unsolicited email. If he was not on your team, he should not had gotten an email.

Oh, and by the way, a really simply fix by FAD would had been to use the same function that tracts team stats for team emails. It makes no sense at all why he would do otherwise, other then lazyness.

Hell, they have the programming in place to do it for tracking of points for team stats, but not for emailing. Makes no sense. You simply tell the list bot to poll the team members from the stat tracing bot, and pass out email addresses.

This is not a DBA issue, it is a design issue. He no longer even needs to modify the database for each pc attached.

And based on what think was saying, I actually would guess that one of the many PC's that were configured, may infact have your team associated to it. But, if you think it through, the checkmark for the email issue is very misleading.

If I put a checkmark there, I would think that whatever team I was currently assoicated with would get my points, and I would get their emails.

If my points with to a new team, my email account should be associated with that new team.

Oh, and by the way guys, please do not think I am attacking you. I simply do not agree with your stance on all this. I do not think Pixi was responsible for the email, but then again, Legman had no reason whatsoever to even think he would be getting emails from Pixi or Fad.
